Friday's Finds

Welcome to the 611 blog.  If this is your first time reading, that's probably ok, since this is my first time writing it.    Here's how this thing is gonna work; we're gonna update the blog every Monday-Friday, with the hope that it will be worth your time/reading effort at least once or twice a week.  In math terms, we want you to enjoy your reading experience at least 20% of the time (we are achievers at 611).  Each day of the week will have it's own format:

  • The Post-Mortem (Mondays).  Since our community worships on Sunday nights, then the Monday after will be the recap/follow-up/stuff that didn't get said the night before.  Many times it will come out of the discussions at 611, sometimes the speaker will skip over an important point for that night (never on purpose), and a few times a challenge will come from the night.
  • The Super Tuesday Poll of the Week (Tuesday).  It is tradition in our nation that, on occasion, Tuesday is voting day.  Well, here at 611, every Tuesday will be voting day.  There will be two opposing views on completely arbitrary topics, most of which will be of no consequence, arguments will be made, and you the reader will be asked to cast your vote in the comments section.  If our readership is in the single digits, then your vote really does matter.
  • Living the H.I.(humpday inspiration) Life (Wednesday).  Hopefully hump days can be an inspiration to many of you, as we'll post a piece of scripture and a follow-up thought that will aim to be something for you to meditate on and help you in your walk with God in the middle of the crazy week.
  • The Week Link (Thursday).  Every Thursday we'll post a link to an interesting/uplifting article or video.
  • Friday's Finds (Friday).  Every Friday we will give you a handful of things to look forward to for the weekend, whether they are events, games, shows, etc., along with a brief preview of each find.
So without any further ado, here are this Friday's Finds:

SEC FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:  Florida vs. Alabama, Saturday, 4PM, CBS.  If you follow college football at all, you know that this re-match has been anticipated for a full year since last year's classic game in the championship game.

NOEL NIGHT:  Wayne State Campus, Saturday, 5PM-9:30PM.  Awesome event, http://www.detroitmidtown.com/05/noelnight.php

MEN OF GRACE @ 611:  Sunday night, 6PM-7PM, Clarkston United Methodist Church.    Come on, you didn't think I'd forget, did you?
