Church Picnic and Festival
This is the first Sunday that we go back to worship services at 9:00am, 11:15am and 6:11pm. You also have the opportunity to jump into lots of new programs that are starting up. Sept. 12th is also registration Sunday for all the children’s nursery and Sunday school programs. We will have a great picnic unlike those of the past to celebrate this exciting time with children’s fun and games, music by the Stardusters and of course food, the UM Men will be grilling hotdogs. Please bring your choice of beverage and dish to contribute to meal: last names A-N salads and fruits; and last names O-Z desserts. Please bring lawn chairs and/or any other picnic supplies.
CUMC AT THE TASTE OF CLARKSTON

Thanks to the generosity of the UMW, UMM, the Clark Trust Fund and others, CUMC will be the Entertainment Sponsor for Taste of Clarkston. We are very excited about this great opportunity to reach 10,000 of our neighbors and let them know that about who we are. In addition to having our name on all the publicity, t-shirts and the stage banner, we will have a booth at which we will have people fill out information cards to win prizes from a drawing, we will be a place where children can come and participate in a small mission project. Your help is needed to promote our upcoming activities and show our community who we are and how committed we are to connecting people to people and people to God. Biblical Hospitality Meeting will be held on Monday, August 30 at 7:00pm. If you would like to be a part of hospitality at CUMC, please come!
Sunday School Volunteer Orientation is Tuesday, Aug. 31st at 7pm in the Board Conference Room. If you are helping with Sunday school this year, please attend this brief meeting to collect your teaching materials and annual Sunday school calendar, and enjoy some dessert with your fellow teachers.
Youth Week: A Week of Craziness!

Instead of having a huge Youth Kickoff the first Sunday of September, we start our year with a series of events for each age group known as Youth Week. Below is listed what grades have events on which days. Sign up by emailing Greg Martin at gmartin@clarkstonumc.org.

UMW Reading Program — Reading records are due Sept. 12th. Please put your report in the office UMW mailbox. Copies of the form are in the Library on the UMW bookshelf. It’s Round Robin Dinner time again! This year’s dates are Oct.23, 2010, Jan. 22, 2011, Feb. 26, 2011 & March 19, 2011. In a rotating fashion, with new people each month, you will be host, bring salad & rolls, vegetable or dessert. A great way to meet new people! New Information Book & Directory — Does the CUMC database have YOUR family membership record correct? It is time for us to update the database with any changes, additions, deletions that may have occurred in YOUR family over the past year. Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved? Are you preparing to move soon? Are all of your children still at home and are they all included in your membership record? Please contact the CUMC office at 248-625-1611 to provide your updated information so that the new Directory is correct. All directory updates must be provided by September 1st.
Scarf Project for Michigan Special Winter Olympics — We need 2500 hand-knitted or crocheted scarves by January 15, 2011. Special Olympic colors are red and teal. Please pick up a handout with sample yarn strings, specific color codes and pattern information located on the bulletin board.
