PET Project
PET Project The Personal Energy Transportation (PET) project is a way for members of CUMC to take part in a ministry that is absolutely transformational for leg-handicapped people around the globe. Volunteers from CUMC and other area churches manufacture these vehicles in shops in Hadley & Ypsilanti Townships. The latest shipment of 25 Southeast Michigan PET vehicles was sent to Tampa in late March of 2011. 20 of these went to Ecuador & 5 will be going to Haiti. Our website is: www.petmieastmi.org CUMC's PET group carpools to Ed Noll's workshop near Hadley to fabricate and assemble parts for the PET vehicles, usually on the first Thursday or Saturday of the month. (Check Mission calendar). We meet at the church at 8:15 am, and return to the church by about 12:30pm. You should wear clothing appropriate for the weather, that would not be ruined by a little paint. Bring your favorite work gloves. Please let Dave Kauffman know by e-mail or phone if you can help with this activity. dkauffyman@yahoo.com 248-673-1404, cell: 248-425-3132 If you are unable to volunteer, you can also participate in the project financially. It costs about $225 to build and ship 1 vehicle to a U.S. port. You can write a check to CUMC, designated for the “PET Project” in the memo line. |
