Knitting From the Heart – Mondays from 1-2:30 pm in the parlor. This group knits prayer shawls, hats, baby caps and other knitted garments and gives them to a variety of organizations and individuals. Over 85 prayer shawls have been given away, 114 baby caps for the Neo-natal Intensive care unit at St Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, 29 knit caps for United States Service personnel; 18 caps to persons at Grace Centers of Hope. Come and join us for fellowship and reaching out to wrap others in the warmth of God’s love. They are currently knitting prayers shawls and hats for elderly women in a village in Russia. These pictures are of the only well where these women have to get their water from a well all year, of one woman with her bee hive (weariing one of the hats) and some of these dear ladies. PET stands for Personal Energy Transportation. These are hand-powered vehicles that we are building and shipping to third world countries, where they improve the mobility, dignity, and prosperity of leg-handicapped people. On the first Thursday of each month we go to Ed Noll’s workshop near Hadley to fabricate & assemble PET components. We meet at CUMC to carpool at 8:15a.m.& return about 12:30 p.m.. Please contact Dave Kauffman at the information below if you can make the trip this month. You should bring work gloves and wear clothing that is appropriate to the weather, & would not be ruined by a little paint. Often we also process & bring back surplus onions, apples, and carrots for local food pantries.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed time, materials, & money to this very worthy ministry. Remember that your neighbors who receive these PET’s are not ordinary people. They are JESUS CHRIST Himself, in the flesh. (See Matthew 25: 34-40)
