Learn the basics of American Sign Language in this six-week beginner course starting April 13. Limited to 12 participants. RSVP by April 7.

2026-03-30

Have you ever wanted to learn American Sign Language? Whether you're curious about a new way to communicate, hoping to connect more fully with members of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, or simply looking for a meaningful way to grow — this beginner's course is a wonderful place to start.

Starting Monday, April 13, instructor Kristen Lambrides will lead a six-week ASL course for beginners at Clarkston United Methodist Church, meeting each Monday from 5:00–6:00 PM through May 18. Kristen will walk participants through the foundations of sign language, including the alphabet, numbers, basic phrases, and common responses we use on Sunday mornings. The class will also introduce elements of deaf culture, helping participants develop not just a new skill but a deeper appreciation for the community behind the language.

Class size is limited to 12 individuals to ensure a supportive, hands-on learning environment. No prior experience is needed — just a willingness to learn and have fun.
