This summer, our middle school youth are heading to Detroit for four days of hands-on service, community, and discovery! From June 24–27, students will serve alongside Cass Community Social Services—a ministry that has been transforming lives in Detroit for decades. Our group will meet at Clarkston UMC at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24 and return Saturday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m.
Throughout the trip, students will roll up their sleeves for a variety of meaningful projects including landscaping, working with Cass Green Industries, and helping prepare and serve meals in the kitchen. Each evening will feature a special program exploring the rich and resilient history of the City of Detroit. Our group will stay on cots at Cass Community United Methodist Church, located in a vibrant midtown neighborhood with plenty of nearby spots to grab coffee or a snack. Our host, Rev. Sue Pethoud, will be on site with the group throughout the stay.
The cost for this trip is $110 per person, due by May 15. This is a wonderful opportunity for our youth to live out our core value of transformational mission—serving others while growing in faith and friendship. For questions or to register, contact the church office.
